Grilling in the park

Had a lovely day in the warm 25 degrees that we had in Trondheim and grilled in the park with Jonny, Torgeir and Sol. The water in the river was not so very warm though, but it was a lovely day. I started to read "The Diary of Anne Frank", have so far read half the book.

Taken from the bus from the airport on our way back home at 22:30 pm

What I liked about Amsterdam

1. The canals and all the green trees and plants everywhere in the city.
2. The whole variety of stores, especially those that sell beer, cheese and ice-cream.
3. Dutch people: friendly, fluent in English, always willing to help you.
4. Soft drugs legalization: because Dutch people can have easy access to cannabis they have a very relaxed relationship to it as well. During my time there I barely saw anyone being too drunk or too high, for the exception of 2-3 tourists who obviously need to smoke themselves stupid. Also, by easy and legal access to cannabis harder drugs such as heroin are barely used by anyone, something that does not seem to be the case for other countries in Europe where the use of cannabis is forbidden.
5. Bars and pubs offer a great variety of import beers making me realize that Belgians are not only great at chocolate but know a thing or two about brewing! Favorite beer ever: Kwak.
6. Bicycles: despite the fact that I got annoyed at most bikers (and that is mostly because they still bike on the roads and sidewalks even though they have bike lanes EVERYWHERE) I do appreciate the eco friendliness of bikes as a form for transportation. Also, I have just come to the realization that I have barely seen a bus in the city (with the exception of the tourist bus). Public transportation in Amsterdam consists of the tram and boats (none of them releasing any fumes). Very eco friendly city!
7. The red light district: often when we think about prostitution we assume it's much worse than it is. And indeed that is the case for many women who are being exploited against their will in places where prostitution is prosecuted. When you legalize prostitution and make it as safe as in Amsterdam, the sex workers have a safe environment to do what they do, as do their clients. Also they pay taxes, which is good for the country. You can clearly see that the girls in the red light district are there out of free will and they also have security guards outside to protect them in case a client gets too naughty...
8. Free Wi-fi in every restaurant, bar and hotel around. And a great variety of places to eat too!
9. I finally found the Calvin Klein concealer I had been looking for the past five months and that I cannot get sent to Norway anywhere!
